These full-sized food pan covers are compatible with our polycarbonate food pans. We carry both notched—for a spoon—and solid versions. Kitchens generally carry around a 2:1 ratio of pans to covers, but it is entirely up to personal preference. In addition to this size, we also carry Half, 1/3, 1/4, 1/6, and 1/9 sizes.

Polycarbonate food pans are typically used for refrigerated storage, buffet service, and prep tables. Businesses will often use steam table pans for heated food, but these can safely withstand temperatures of -40°C - 99°C, making them ideal for heated, tepid, or cold storage. Another benefit to this material for food pans is that it will not react negatively to ingredients, where stainless steel can spoil cut lettuce, etc.

In choosing whether notched or solid pan covers are right for you, consider how you plan to use them. At a buffet table, notched is best because it allows a serving spoon or ladle to sit in the pan while it is covered. For refrigerated storage, solid covers are generally preferred simply because there is no need for an opening. With prep tables, covers are used less often, but it is up to personal preference here. Sometimes a rarely used ingredient will be covered where more popular ones are left open.
